Denim and doubt, cotton and caution, fell to the floor in a forgotten heap

About This Quote

This quote is my favorite because it shows the value of denim and how it came to be used. The idea of denim was born in the United States in the late 1800s. People realized that denim was a strong and durable fabric that could be made into clothing. However, they were not able to find a way to make the fabric dyeable like other materials.

So, they used indigo as a dye, but the indigo wore off easily and made the cloth look rather dingy. So, people started experimenting with different dyes and found that they could make lighter and brighter colors by using cotton yarn. They continued to experiment and found that they could create a fabric that would not fade even after multiple washings.

This eventually led to the creation of Levi's jeans which are made from cotton.
